After boarding a train, you will experience the region a little further as you ride along the Death Railway. While enjoying the remarkable views of the river and the stunning scenery, you will be crossing several original bridges constructed by Asian laborers and POWs. Your train ride will bring you to the Krasae Cave Station.

Itinerary

​7:30 AM: Pick-up from your hotel and depart for Kanchanaburi.

​10:30 AM: Arrive at Wat Tham Sua (Tiger Cave Temple) and ascend to see its huge golden Buddha statue and panoramic views.

​12:00 PM: Visit the Don Rak War Cemetery, maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

​1:00 PM: Enjoy a local lunch at a riverside restaurant. (Lunch is at your own expense.)

​2:00 PM: Explore the iconic Bridge over the River Kwai, a reconstructed monument to the Thai-Burma Railway.

​2:45 PM: Visit the JEATH War Museum to gain insight into the daily lives of POWs.

​3:30 PM: Begin the return journey to Bangkok.

This day trip is designed to immerse you in Thailand’s heritage, honoring the past while showcasing the beauty of the River Kwai valley.

Leaving the capital behind, your morning begins at the Don Rak War Cemetery, the peaceful final resting place for thousands of Allied prisoners of war. Nearby, the JEATH War Museum provides vital context, using photographs and artifacts to share the harrowing story behind the creation of the Thailand-Burma Railway, famously known as the "Death Railway."

After a local lunch, history comes alive as you board a train to ride a scenic stretch of the railway itself. The train winds along the cliffside, crossing the historic wooden viaducts near Krasae Cave and offering sweeping views of the river below. The afternoon culminates at the world-famous Bridge over the River Kwai, where you can walk across the iconic iron structure and capture unforgettable photos.

For an added touch of adventure, you can customize your afternoon with optional elephant encounters, choosing between a scenic ride or a hands-on river bathing session with these majestic animals. 1:15 PM: Take a train ride on the Death Railway to Nam Tok, passing the famous Krasae Cave and wooden bridge.
